November 25, 1923 – September 20, 2021
Sybil Sim was born at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox. Her early years were spent at Birkdale Farm on the Guthrie Rd. After marriage in 1946, Mom and Dad moved back east mainly living in Port Arthur now known as Thunder Bay.
A short time was spent in Vancouver prior to moving back to take over the farm in early 1950. Mom worked alongside Dad to help build the farm along with having a great vegetable and flower garden. She still found time to do; volunteer work with such groups as the girl guides, 4-H garden club, Natural History Club, SPCA and running errands for the elderly.
She also, spent a lot of time at St. Peters Church in Comox doing the floral arrangements for weddings and funerals.
Mom had a great knowledge of the local family history of Comox. In 1998 she was presented with the Heritage Award from the Town of Comox and was the Honourary Parade Marshal for the Comox Nautical Days.
She was predeceased by her husband Alex, sisters Mary, Dorothy, Georgina, and her parents George and Mable Laban.
She is survived by her son Guy, and several nieces and nephews.
Thank you to Dr. Hunter and all the staff at Eagleview for your care and compassion to Mom. Also, thanks to Hilda and the girls who took care of mom while she was still able to be home.
